Former governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode says he does not have personal links to the accounts where 9.9 billion naira was frozen. A federal high court in Lagos had on Tuesday ordered the freezing of three bank accounts belonging to the state government over an alleged fraud of N9.9 billion fraud when Ambode was in office. The order was sequel to an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has condemned alleged disenfranchisement and violent attacks on Ndigbo during last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Lagos. It lamented that the political merchants and their thugs did not only engineer disenfranchisement and violence on the Igbo community, but went as far as burning their votes en masse. Properties worth several millions of naira were destroyed in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State on Wednesday as fire from a petroleum products pipeline ravaged the area. It was gathered that the affected streets were Arowolo, Shobowale, Iyalode Abule-Egba, Taiwo Adewole, Adepegba, Wamon Taofeek, Santos and Owode. No fewer than nine persons were feared dead on Tuesday in an accident involving a Mercedes-Benz Marcopolo bus and an Iveco truck at Aseese area of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
