The Independent National Electoral Commission says with the proposed reform of the electoral Act, the 2019 election may be the last “mainly manual” election in Nigeria. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana says the deregistration of 74 out of the existing 102 political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission is premature. This, according to him is because the Nigerian constitution only empowers to deregister political parties under certain conditions. The Independent National Electoral Commission has deregistered 74 political parties. INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, announced this in a press conference in Abuja today.
