The national executive council meeting of the All Progressives Congress has been postponed indefinitely. Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state, disclosed this to state house correspondents at the end of a meeting that he and his colleagues held with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja. Bagudu, who is chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, said the postponement was at the instance of the governors. The leaders of the party were divided over the meeting. Former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, says Nigeria has nothing to show for all the funds it has been borrowing for years. Obi was reacting to the senate’s approval of the $22.7 billion roan request by President Muhammadu Buhari. Speaking while on a television programme, Obi said all previous borrowings have had no positive impact on Nigeria’s economy. He said the more the country borrows, the worse the economic projections. A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, has expressed fears that unless President Muhammadu Buhari intervenes in the crisis rocking the party, it may be heading for the rocks. Crises had engulfed the party following calls for the resignation of the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole. A federal high court in Kano has issued an interim order halting the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress. At its sitting today, the judge, A. Lewis-Allagoa, asked parties involved to “maintain the status quo pending the court’s final decision. The judge gave the ruling following an application by one Aliyu Rabiu praying the court to stop the APC and INEC from effecting Oshiomhole’s suspension. The Supreme court has sacked David Lyon less than 24 hours before his inauguration as governor of Bayelsa state.
Lyon, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was declared the winner of the governorship election in the state in November 2019.
A panel of justices led by Mary Odili has however asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Lyon and to re-issue another to the candidate with the second-highest number of votes.

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party today protested at the office of the European Union in Abuja. The opposition party said it is protesting against the “deplorable state of affairs” in the country. In another development, some protesters today besieged the Abuja office of Amnesty International, asking the rights watchdog to leave Nigeria. The protesters arrived at the office located at Maitama at about 12pm today and barricaded the road leading to the entrance. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has written a letter to inspector-general of police, Mohammed Adamu seeking the arrest of Adams Oshiomhole. Oshiomhole, who is the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has been having a running battle with the governor over his reelection bid. National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu has called for dialogue between governors of South West states and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice over the zone’s security initiative, code-named Amotekun.
