Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state says governors should be blamed for the rate of out-of-school children in the country.
Speaking in Abuja today at the 25th edition of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Fayemi said education is on the concurrent list, hence no governor should have an excuse providing quality education.
The Ekiti governor said the situation is a delicate one for politicians as citizens are more satisfied when governors build roads rather than pay teachers’ salaries.
Fayemi was a panelist at the summit alongside, Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese; Matthew Kukah, emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, among others.
The session focused on how demographic realities can be transformed into social and business opportunities and what the implications are on internal migration, sustainable peace and security.
