Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, says the Commission has commenced plans for the 2023 general elections with the ongoing series of review of the 2019 poll.
Yakubu, who disclosed this on Thursday at the 2019 Post Election Review Meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners in Ikeja, Lagos State, said the Commission is determined to improve the electoral process.
He said the commission is confident and has high hope that the Resident Electoral Commissioners, just like the other stakeholders will also rise to the occasion.
The INEC chairman added that since July 8 in Lagos, the commission has met with the media, exclusively the line editors, editors and producers as well as collation and returning officers in its bid to improving electoral process.
In his welcome address, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sam Olumekun said the conduct of 2019 elections will not be complete until the review of the exercise to chart the way forward.
According to him, the political class has not helped matters in elections through their desperation and do-or-die attitude.
